Two Wheels (and a Nail)
On my two wheels,
I stopped to pick up a nail.
Yeah, a nail just for you.
Better to do that as it re minded me that to exist,
Chop wood, haul water, pick up nail,
It all seems to fit together.
It was not just for me or you but for us all.
Then I thought, who invented the nail anyway?
Who had the temerity to use nails to crucify people?
A far cry away from chopping water and hauling wood.
I got down on my knees to get a closer look,
At broken pavement and said nail.
More than one I have seen.
Pulled out my brush and broom,
Broke two square meters down into blocks.
I picked and swept and brushed and sanded and blew away,
Till smooth and silky.
No need to worry now.
Just one last nail.
