This
is in memory of my mentor and friend Sam Polson who died in Honolulu
last week after 80 years on this earth. Sam, I've missed you and now I
shall miss you more. We had a lot of nights over jazz, singing, acting
and a friendship. I'm driving home now after a long day in the ER and
all I can think of is you and Patricia as I listen to the music of
Hawai'i Nei and the Jazz you taught me so much about. I see these clouds
spilling over the beautiful California coastal hills and I think of you
both and am reminded of the islands of home and the people I felt at
home with. I feel your spirit Sam and I love you and Patricia no matter
the distance and time life inevitably brings. You made me a better
person, a better man and I will never forget that and what you taught
me. Malama pono Sam Polson, you were a man's man. A hui hou.
